Marché Arends is a South African investigative journalist based in Cape Town. Her work focuses on AI accountability and labour in the Majority World. She trains journalists about reporting on AI through the Pulitzer Center's Spotlight Series and her work has been published in Tech Policy Press, The Continent, and elsewhere.

She has worked in community and nonprofit media, global development, and strategic communications. She was a 2024/25 AI Accountability Fellow with the Pulitzer Center, as well as an AI Spotlight Series community coach.
